Physical and Occupational Therapists are dedicated to the promotion of optimum health and function through the application of scientific principles to prevent, identify, assess, correct, or alleviate acute or prolonged movement dysfunctions. PT's and OT's employ evaluation procedures such as assessment of muscle performance, joint motion, and level of independent function, as well as tests of sensorimotor, circulatory, and developmental status. Based on the interpretation of evaluation results, treatment programs are developed which are designed to:

  • improve or restore range of joint motion, muscle strength, coordination, and
        endurance
  • relieve pain
  • reclaim lost muscle and joint function
  • develop new motor skills
  • assist the patient in achieving realistic goals consistent with functional capacity.
